Our first stop today - the Library of Congress. I was told they have a copy, or actual document itself, of every book, manuscript, pamphlet, brochure, etc. ever published in the United States. The best thing I saw was one of three surviving copies of the Guggenheim-printed Bible from 1455. Unfortunately, no one was allowed to take a picture of it.
The second best thing I saw was an exhibit that featured every book from Thomas Jefferson’s personal library – not copies of the books he read, the actual books enclosed, still on the bookshelves, in glass. They counted almost 6,500 in total.
The Supreme Court building. By this time it was early afternoon and we were all ready for some lunch. Turns out there is a food court in the Supreme Court building. So, for all you lawyers out there, I used my deductive reasoning and ergo: we ate at the Supreme Food Court.
See no evil, hear no evil.
I got a chance to visit the Folger Shakespeare Library and got to see some of the actual manuscripts from his folio, costumes from Elizabethan productions and works written by Marlowe. Shall I compare it to a summer’s day? It was more lovely and more temperate.
When you are 4 years old and it’s a hot, summer day there’s nothing better than an ice cream treat shaped like a teenage mutant ninja turtle.
The Hope Diamond display at the Smithsonian. It’s over 45 carats and completely flawless – the reason for the name? Every woman there was hoping their man would bring it home for a souvenir. :)

My goodness. How big was that ninja turtle ice cream? Looked like it was half the size of Riley. Yummy!
