We began today’s history lesson in Fredericksburg,Virginia learning all about the battles that took place in and around the area. Honestly, not a great way to start the day.
This poor house, the Innis House, got caught in the crossfire. You can still peek inside it and see all the bullet holes. Amazingly, it is still standing today, same as it was 150 years ago.
There is a diaorama based on an actual picture taken after one of the battles. It’s very realistic and when Riley saw it he said, “Those guys are in big trouble, they pastroyed that house!”
From the battlefield to the beautiful……Mt. Vernon.
There is an actual working blacksmith shop on site at the estate. The boys were fascinated by him. He was making nails to repair one of the servant’s quarters.
There’s nothing like ending a long, hot summer day with an ice cream cone.
Welcome to Maryland!
The Washington D.C. temple – it’s enormous!
