New Orleans (Not a town for children)

May 31, 2010

We started off the day leaving our KOA Campground.  It was about 9 miles west of New Orleans.  We wanted to check out some of downtown New Orleans area, so we asked for the best method to do so with a wide vehicle and narrow streets.  We got some good advice:  That we park at Audobon Zoo and then take the bus to downtown.  So, this is what we did.  Seemed to have been a fun time for us and the boys.  They enjoyed the ride through town and the ability to see other people enter and exit the bus.

First order of business while in French Quarter……buy some Pralines…….Ummmmm  Pralines!!!

Brayden and Riley seemed to enjoy the umbrella.  We had just bought them since there was a huge thunderstorm that arrived soon after our lunch.  This is at the corner of Bourbon Street.

The first person to post a comment with the correct answer to this question will win a coveted praline:

What is the name of this white-roofed building?

We passed through Mississippi.

And Alabama.

We also had a fun experience through Mobile, Alabama while searching for a gas station.  We felt as uncomfortable as we did about 10 years ago driving through Compton, CA.

Tried something new today: deep fried peanuts (bought at the gas station we finally found not located in Mobile).  Has anyone had experience with these before?  Let us know.

We missed the Welcome to Florida sign, so we figured that a Welcome Center sign was sufficient. :)

A sure-fire signal that your children have spent too much time cooped up in an RV. (These are yesterday’s underwear, by the way.)

Yep, that’s the same underwear his brother is wearing in the picture above. PictureSD3500 082

Is there a term for your body not adjusting to time-zone changes solely from driving? We have had to rearrange our clocks several times, and we still don’t know what time it is.   We do like the fact that we can tell the kids that it is their bedtime (even it normally would not be) :)

Oooops, I left my answer on the wrong post. This is the Louisiana Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints.

By the way, did you actually eat the shells with those deep fried peanuts?
