Today, we traveled from our campground to go and visit Palmyra, New York. This is one of the sites we had planned on making related to LDS Church History. We first stopped by the Hill Cumorah Visitors Center.
Brayden in amazement at the number of copies of the Book of Mormon in all its various languages.
This is where the Hill Cumorah Pageant takes place. Unfortunately, we are about a month too early to experience this show. This hill is quite large. Brayden, Riley and I hiked up the hill to see what we would find at the top (besides exhaustion).
We found a statue of Moroni. Here are Brayden and Riley sitting at the base of it.
We then went about 3 more miles and visited the Palmyra Temple.
We then went to the Joseph Smith home in Palmyra, NY. The home shown below is a replica, but the other home that was on the site was 85% original.
Me, Brayden, and Riley walking on the path of the Sacred Grove.
We got to our campground and the boys immediately bolted for the playground. Carter has finally learned to go up the stairs of a play structure and go down the slide by himself.
Here is Brayden encouraging Carter to go down the slide.
Carter enjoying the little-kid swing.
After all the fun and excitement, we stopped at a new restaurant that we had not seen before. We went to “Mighty Taco”.
Tomorrow we will be taking a look at Niagara Falls and heading into Canada towards Toronto.
