Enjoying Savannah, Georgia: Paula Deen’s restaurant, staying in Point South, South Carolina

Today, we had to wake up early to take the RV into the repair shop.  We got to the shop around 9am to have them look at RV air conditioner.  When we explained what the problem was to the repair guys, the A/C started working just fine.  It WOULD NOT FAIL.  It’s kind of a blessing and a curse.  It’s nice to see that it works again, but at the same time very annoying that it took so long for it to work out the kinks of itself.  Also, we probably looked crazy to the repair guys since they haven’t seen it fail.  We swear the thing failed for the past 4 days.  It gave some error code “E5” which didn’t really mean anything to us or the shop.  They don’t really work on this type of roof-top A/C unit anyways.  They only work on the A/C unit of the vehicle itself.  Seems like Murphy’s Law has happened in reverse today…..’Whatever can go wrong, doesn’t go wrong when you expect it to” (that’s my twisted version :) ).

We drove to downtown Savannah to check out some of the history of the town.  We also wanted to see if we could get some lunch at the Paula Deen restaurant “The Lady and Sons”.  We were told by the repair shop guys that you need to arrive just to be told when to come back.  We had to park about 1/2 mile away since it is very difficult to find parking for an RV.  We took up 2 parking meters on a less-used street.  We walked to the restaurant and passed by some cool looking old-style homes and some lush-green parks.  We finally arrived at the restaurant and they hostess stated that we could be seated just as soon as a table was available.  There were lots of people waiting to get in…..it seems like the ‘it” place to be.  The food was good.  Riley didn’t want to eat anything except for the sugar contained in the sugar packet on the table.  Saves us a bit of money I guess, since he can just eat some grocery food back in the RV. :)

Ok, so you’ve read Aric’s version of today which is accurate and concise. I have to tell you today was a WONDERFUL day for me! Savannah, Georgia is my favorite city in the entire country. I’ve always heard about the southern hospitality and southern pride that goes along with being a native and I did not understand until today what that really meant.

Coming from Arizona, where everything from the sky to the bugs are brown, I really did appreciate how gorgeous this city is and the pride that the people of Savannah have for their city. I took pictures of everything and Aric kept asking me why. I was not able to download all the photos, but I’m going to share some of my favorites.

Here it is! The Lady and Sons restaurant – it was everything I hoped it would be and more. I’ll be dreaming tonight of the crab cake that had me at hello.

Next stop: South Carolina and my first visit to a plantation!

This is the wishing well where the boys spent about $5.00 in loose change. (Mostly trying to get their coins to the top tier of the fountain.)

And this is Riley after dunking his entire top half back into the wishing well to retrieve (steal) his pennies and try again.

By far the best night yet, building a campfire and eating s’mores with my guys.

I found out a piece of information today that every mother should know about her son: when Brayden asked Riley what his favorite thing to do was, he answered, “I like to kiss girls and fart!” (A classic Riley comment.)
